How do TarotWise readings work?
Every reading starts with a cryptographically random shuffle generated in your browser, so the cards you draw are genuinely random. The site then looks up each card in our own Rider-Waite-Smith meaning dictionary and assembles the interpretation from those entries. It is randomness plus a reference book, nothing more mysterious than that.
Is TarotWise really free?
Yes. There are no accounts, no payments, and no premium tier. The site is supported by optional advertising, which only loads if you consent to it. If you choose Essential only, you still get every feature of the site.
Where is my journal stored, and how do I back it up?
Your journal lives only in your browser's localStorage and is never sent to any server. To back it up, use the export option to download it as a file; you can import that file later or on another device. Clearing your browser data deletes the journal, so export it first.
What time does the daily card reset?
The daily card resets at midnight in your device's local time zone. Until then, returning to the page shows you the same card you drew earlier that day.
What are reversed cards, and can I turn them off?
A reversed card is one that appears upside down, and in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition it carries a shifted or inverted meaning. If you prefer to read with upright cards only, you can disable reversals with a toggle in the reading setup before you draw.
Why do only some card combinations have their own pages?
With 78 cards there are thousands of possible pairs, so we publish full editorial pages only for the combinations we have written about in depth. For any other pair, you can use the quick pair view, which places the two cards' dictionary meanings side by side.
Does TarotWise predict the future?
No. TarotWise is a reflection tool. Readings combine random draws with written card meanings to give you a fresh angle on your question, and any insight comes from your own thinking about the symbols, not from a prediction.
